In the tumult of a departure,
He sits alone and wonders
If naught but the future failed him,
What could the present want?

But all the world had taught him was a lie –
To feed its own appetite, all a lie;
For all we thought was beauty, all a lie –
So what truly was this road he was on?

If the sky would fill itself with rivers,
And the stars they come to life;
The constellations dance in unison,
Why should he think to wander?

Eyes travel through the skies above,
The streams of endless worlds apart;
The past and present, futures bright –
Why do the stars go on shining?

For eternity lives, and eternity knows,
That life is but a speck, a dent;
The flow of time, the universe plans –
Don’t they know the world will end?

And in this heart, he sees the future,
A world that lives, beyond his own;
What could he do, what was his gripe –
If his life was but a whisper?

On his back he rests and sighs,
As memories past they ruthlessly play;
Beyond the constellations, pray –
Why did the departed leave?

“Hear my heart, the sound of life,
Hear it now, steady and true;
And i do know my heart won’t last –
Won’t you please give me a clue?”

His voice rang clear and true,
In the warmth of a midsummer’s night;
A cry heartrending for it’s truth –
But for him the sky was never blue.
